About Matt

Matt Erdman headshotMatt Erdman has represented and advised hundreds of local taxpayers in matters with the IRS and Oregon Department of Revenue.  He built a reputation of public service and success directing two non-profit Low Income Taxpayer Clinics.  Over time he realized that most people don’t qualify for free service at a clinic and shouldn’t have to retain a big firm to get quality tax counsel.  Matt uniquely offers experienced and knowledgeable representation with efficient personal service and accessibility.

Matt is a member of the Oregon State Bar Taxation Section’s Executive Committee and the Practice and Procedure Lead for the Section’s Laws Committee.  He gives Continuing Legal Education presentations about tax topics to other lawyers and guest lectures law school tax classes.  As a supervising attorney and clinic director, he trained many law students and lawyers in tax law and procedure.  He takes pride in breaking down these intimidating topics to provide understanding, comfort, and the best results.

An avid skier, cyclist, and climber, Matt fell in love with Oregon’s beautiful outdoors during a summer clerkship after his first year of law school.  When it came time to go home, he decided to transfer here and has never looked back.  Always active in the community, he volunteers with Mount Hood Ski Patrol, provides frequent pro bono services to the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic at El Programa Hispano Catolico, and served on Portland’s Off-Road Cycling Master Plan Project Advisory Committee.  With a prior career in the wine industry and related interests in dining and cooking, he also has a special appreciation for the amazing local offerings.
